It’ll take a few years (!!) to build the momentum to have an actual, everyday community. Bacefook took time to take off, and right now, is keeping potential users from this place. I’m giving it two years, myself, before I throw up my hands in disgust and quit… which I hope it won’t come to. Patience is a virtue.

Disclosure: I am one of the contributors to the channel, so I have a little self-interest there. Anyway, it is a weekly effort by a small group of music enthusiasts to spread the good vibes along with some background info about what you’re hearing.
My favourite part is that WT:Social does not collect my personal data to sell on to others without asking me first… hope that that will continue to be the case.
Well, I may be a little out of date here, but I think highly of pretty much all of the Larry Niven/Jerry Pournelle collaborations (also a huge fan of the Known Space stories), some of which I have recently re-read. For a relatively new author, I would recommend Brenda Cooper, and not because of her Niven collaborations but on her own merits.
